Artist Statement:
The beauty, subtlety and experiences of everyday life is where my artistic journey begins. When inspired by a specific subject, I take a moment to envision the piece coming to life and letting my creative energy flow. As I place my mark on the sanded paper I use my fingertips to blend the pastels into the surface , my mind becomes clear, and the painting emerges from within. One of my greatest pleasures is revealing the mood of the piece through the array of colors, shadows and light. With each pastels mark and in each painting I leave a little piece of myself to the viewer.
Lea Black is a soft pastel artist who has been using the medium since the Fall of 2020. She has taken various online workshops to hone her craft, but is mostly self taught. She is a member of NWPS, WCPS,PSSC and IAPS. In the past 2 years Lea has been juried into several local and national exhibitions. She held her first solo art exhibit in 2023 at the Healdsburg Senior Center.
