Morgan Hill Open Studios (MHOS) was created in collaboration with the Morgan Hill Library Culture and Arts Commission (LCAC) and the City of Morgan Hill, and operates as a project of the El Toro Culture & Arts Committee of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation (MHCF).

MHOS event committee is made up of local artists, art enthusiasts, and art professionals from Morgan Hill and the surrounding area. Their mission is to connect art lovers with local artists from across southern Santa Clara County through their annual open studio event. MHOS promotes the arts as a significant South Santa Clara asset and increases public awareness about the quality and diversity of art created in our county.

Other local open studio tours in recent years have focused on the sprawling areas of Santa Clara County or Silicon Valley including Morgan Hill and South County, but have proved difficult to draw attendees to visit studios this far south. In late 2019, plans commenced for an open studios tour showcasing the artists, makers and original creations of Morgan Hill and South County.

The pandemic intervened in between, but the dedicated MHOS members continued to meet and keep their plans alive. The successful debut of the initial Open Studios weekend in November 2021 was the first such event centered on Morgan Hill in more than a decade. It featured 40 artists displaying an impressive multitude of media, including oil, acrylic & watercolor paintings, charcoal & graphite drawings, pastels, mixed media paintings & collages, multimedia, photography, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry, etc.

The Morgan Hill Open Studios promotes the arts as a significant South Santa Clara asset to increase public awareness about the quality and diversity of art created in our county. The event encourages art enthusiasts to tour artists' home studios, or at select centralized public venues—such as the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center and local participating wineries—where multiple artists set up displays and demonstrations of their creations. There is something for every art lover at the MHOS event.
